NAPOLEONICS

Page history last edited by Guy Farrish 2 years, 6 months ago

I started wargaming in 1972, having bought 'Charge!' by Young and Lawford. Napoleonics were the only game in town -literally-and so I started off with Minifigs and Hinchliffe 25mm. They were great but very expensive for a schoolboy and my collection grew slowly. University, the opposite sex, rugby and alcohol slowed the process even more and I never did complete my army.

After many byways I eventually returned to Napoleonic tabletop games via 6mm and Volley and Bayonet rules. Some of the results are shown here:

I spent a very enjoyable Sunday (8 November 2009) with some old wargaming friends (and a couple of new ones) in Gloucester. Volley and Bayonet were the rules used to recreate Borodino. Two of them have huge collections of 25mm figures and I have to say that the effect was impressive. My pocket won't allow me to emulate their feats so I'll stick to 6mm. (I also don't have a huge outbuilding to put such a set up in!)
