Bear in the Mountains

Page history last edited by Guy Farrish 3 years, 1 month ago

The Soviet experience in Afghanistan was not a happy one and helped bring the Communist Party to its knees. The geopolitical ramifications and subsequent fallout after the Soviet withdrawal make for fascinating committee games and possibly 'matrix games' if those grab you, but I hadn't got around to fighting any of the insurgency battles on a tabletop despite drawing up several scenarios (and a good thing too I can hear the anti-figure gamers I know saying). Then Cold War Commander snared me - ostensibly for hypothetical 'what if' battles on the Central Front in the Cold War- but something clicked when I read them and so I put together a small battlegroup and some Mujahideen to drive out the infidel. They are 6mm - the Sovs are Navwar/Heroics and the Mujahideen are Irregular.

If you are wondering where the BMPs are, they are off in a Bronnegrup, and if they are lucky there may be some tanks around as well
